Session

Description

Windows Workflow Foundation (WF)

If you are building applications that have business objects and business processes then you need to experience this new technology from Microsoft that provides a visual representation of your business processes and makes it easy to change flow-of-control and business rules without recompiling! This session teaches you the basics of activity-oriented programming and helps you get up and running quickly with this new technology.

Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)

Windows Forms 2.0 has been replaced by the new Windows Presentation Foundation as the primary tool for creating desktop applications. In addition, WPF allows you to create user interfaces that can be used both on the desktop and on the web! In this session we demonstrate both the WPF extensions for Visual Studio 2005 as well as Microsoft’s new Expression Blend tool for building the next-generation of user interfaces and enabling richer control of the visual aspects of your .NET applications. We also discuss XML Browser Applications (XBAP) that run in a browser on the client machine but have access to the rich graphic features of the WPF runtime.

Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)

If you have a need for one application to talk to another application—whether it be on the same machine or across multiple machines, you need to learn about Windows Communication Foundation. WCF unifies Web Services, .NET Remoting, Distributed Transactions and Message Queues into a single service-oriented programming model for distributed computing. This session shows how you can implement WCF technology in your applications and take advantage of this consistent programming model that allows you to write the same code regardless of how your application is distributed

Windows CardSpace (WCS)

Windows CardSpace is Microsoft’s latest standards-based solution for working with and managing digital identities. It is an identity metasystem that provides consistent user control of a wide variety of identity systems (both Microsoft and non-Microsoft). This new technology hopes to replace password-based login as the main way you identify yourself on line. Whether or not this technology catches on, this session shows how you can use Windows CardSpace in your own applications for securely identifying and authenticating users.

How it works
The live training class is broadcast directly to your company using Citrix’s www.gotomeeting.com. All you need is a computer with a high speed internet connection and a phone. During each training session you simply connect to the training seminar via the internet and you see the trainer’s computer in a window on your machine. If multiple students at your company want to take the class (Note: Each participant must pay for the class) you can simply hook up a projector to your computer so everyone in the room can see. As the trainer steps through presentations and uses Visual Studio 2005 to create and execute code samples you see it all as it is happening.

For audio hookup, you call into the specified phone number and join a conference call where you can hear the trainer and vice versa. In the past, students have used Skype (www.skype.com) successfully to avoid long distance charges. To minimize disruptions, you can post questions in a chat window for the instructor to answer.

Benefits

  • You save the usual costs of airfare, hotel, food, and rental car to attend a class
  • You aren’t tied up all day in training
  • You get a recording of the entire training class!

Schedule
The class consists of three, four-hour training sessions from 12pm-4pm Eastern.

Cost
The cost for the class is $599 ($499 early bird special) per student. Note that if you have multiple students taking the training, each student must pay for the class. In addition to the class registration fee, the number you call for audio hookup is a toll number, so you will be charged on your phone bill at the regular rate of your long distance provider. If you have free unlimited long distance calls, then the call is free.
