Meet our MVPs who do so much to make MM .NET a great platform for building your .NET applications. You will see many of our MVPs helping support MM .NET on the Universal Thread where all of our tech support is handled. Rather than putting MM .NET technical support on a private newsgroup, we found that providing tech support on the Universal Thread offers many benefits. One of these is that MM .NET developers can go to a single source for getting answers to their general .NET questions as well as their MM .NET-specific questions, rather than having to check multiple newsgroups or forums for responses. Another benefit is that non-MM .NET developers often get involved in discussions, providing valuable feedback and ideas that continue to move MM .NET forward in a practical and beneficial direction. In addition to on-line technical support, most of our MM .NET MVPs have distinguished themselves by providing behind-the-scenes contributions to MM .NET. These contributions take the form of detailed feedback on MM .NET documentation and features, suggested code enhancements, beta testing feedback, and so on. So here's some basic information on each of our MVPs (in alphabetical order) who you'll see on Universal Thread or working behind the scenes for MM .NET. Tom Eberhard
Tom is a talented software developer and architect. He is very involved in the VB .NET community and is becoming well known for his work there. He wrote a majority of the book "OOP: Building Reusable Components with Visual Basic .NET" for Microsoft Press (http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/southeastasia/authors/author523.htm). Tom is also VP, IT, CIO, and Chief Software Architect at InfoLinkScreening Services (http://www.infolinkscreening.com). In addition to being a writer, Tom is also a popular .NET speaker at conferences such as VB Connections: http://www.devconnections.com/vb/vbfall2001/schedule.asp?refer= http://www.asp-connections.com/asp/aspspring2002/schedule.asp?refer= Tom provides detailed feedback and suggestions during the MM .NET's beta cycles and helps MM .NET make great strides in functionality and usability. Tom builds exceptionally well-designed applications and his real-world experience building .NET applications makes him a great resource for the MM .NET community. David Foderick
David is extremely knowledgeable in both C# and .NET in general. He is well-versed in the current version of .NET and he's great at keeping up with what's coming in future versions. Thankfully David shares the wealth as a frequent contributor to both the MM .NET and the general .NET communities. David is the owner of Net Knowledge, Inc. in Southern California. It focuses on object-oriented analysis and design, databases, and layered application architecture. He is a frequent presenter at local user groups and has certifications in .NET (MCSD), SQL Server (MCDBA), UML and MSF. David received his BSEE from the University of Minnesota. Cathi Gero
Cathi has an amazing talent for software development and natural ability to understand, design, and program object-oriented software. If you spend any time at all in the .NET forum of the Universal Thread, you will see Cathi answering both MM .NET-specific and general .NET questions on a wide variety of topics. Cathi also has a regular column in the Universal Thread Magazine, "Cathi Gero's .NET Tips," that provides many practical tips for working with .NET. Cathi also tech-edited the book ".NET for Visual FoxPro Developers" (written by Kevin McNeish). Cathi "speaks" both C# and VB .NET fluently so she was a valuable resource in representing both languages equally within the book. In addition to being an MM .NET MVP, Cathi is is also a Microsoft C# MVP and an active member of the .NET community. She is a consultant, developer, and founder of Prenia Corporation (www.prenia.com) located in Redmond, Washington. Cathi is also on the road a lot providing custom software development, training, and architectural designing to businesses and developers. She is also a popular speaker at both conferences and user groups and is author of white papers for Microsoft. You can contact Cathi via e-mail at cgero@prenia.com. Jason Mesches
Jason has a strong grasp of n-tier architecture and the use of business objects in applications. Jason and the team of developers he works with usually win the prize for "most suggestions implemented in the Framework." His "in the trenches" experience provides us with valuable input for MM .NET. Jason is also very visible on the UT forums answering Mere Mortals questions. He has been a Mere Mortals user since July, '99. He is currently migrating two projects to .NET: Fulfillment software from Visual FoxPro to C# Windows Forms/Web Services project, and an Access to C# Windows Forms project for a social services organization. Paul Mrozowski
Paul is another one of our MM .NET MVPs who offers a lot in the public forums and behind the scenes. He's handled some difficult questions posted by MM .NET users, and at times even provided code samples to help them out. Paul is a strong developer who also contributes valuable ideas to the product. Paul is currently a developer with Wireless Toyz in Farmington Hills, MI. He specializes in desktop and web-based applications using Visual FoxPro and VS .NET. He has written articles for CoDe magazine and FoxTalk. He spends his free time hanging out with his wife, son, and two dogs. He can be reached at: paulm@rcs-solutions.com and http://www.rcs-solutions.com. Rex Willis
Rex is "a details person." He does a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes copy editing and tech editing our MM .NET Developer's Guide. In addition, he provides great suggestions for MM .NET enhancements. Rex's main areas of focus are business objects and SQL Server data design. He was a programmer and technician in the 70's, then after that, he obtained an M.S. in Biology and taught sciences at a community college for 12 years. He recently completed time at Hagerty Insurance Agency in Traverse City, Michigan where he used his teaching background to support the development team. He was also responsible for developing programming standards and compliance with the standards at Hagerty where they are using MM .NET to create in-house software for their insurance business. In addition to being an MM .NET MVP, he is also a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD).
All of our MVPs provide extremely valuable contributions to MM .NET. Hopefully this introduction will help grow the MM .NET community as we get to know each other, and .NET better...there is so much to learn about .NET since it encompasses so many different technologies! When you have a question, it's nice to have a place on the Universal Thread where you can find friendly faces that provide quick, accurate answers so you can get down to the business of creating .NET applications for your end users. Thanks to our MM .NET MVPs for all they do!
